All County Signup Information
Marlin Parents:
Since the All County signups are now open and the registration window is short, I wanted to appeal for to you and our swimmers to participate! First, I'd like to provide some background about the swim meet since it's very different than the rest of our swim meets and I'm sure some parents have questions.
The All County meet is our swim league's version of a championship swim meet. Swimmers from every team comes together to participate and we get to compete on a large scale against lots of swimmers. Last year there were approximately 850 total swimmers, and they were broken half (roughly) so only half participate in each "session". The results from each session are combined and final/assembled, event results are gathered, and team points awarded.
This is a fun event, at a very large venue, with very good viewing from the pool bleachers. There are two pools running simultaneously at both the morning and afternoon sessions to keep the meet moving along as quickly as possible. They switch teams back/forth between the morning and afternoon sessions - this year we're in the afternoon session.
If you're able to participate, please arrive in plenty of time to assemble with the rest of our team in the bleachers. Space is at a premium, so getting there early is the key! The kids participate in a 30 minute warmup session at 12:30, then the league holds a parade at 1:00 PM with all the teams gathered on the deck. The swim meet second session events begin at 1:30 and should go about 3 to 4 hours. It's difficult to say for sure, since we don't know how many swimmers will attend our session.
This event is for all swimmers from our youngest to our oldest, so please don't let the larger size that intimidate you or your child - I have yet to talk to any swimmer that participated in years past that didn't have fun - and that's what this is all about! If you have questions, please contact me, Glenda, or our coaches and we'll be happy to help.
NOTE: I've talked to several families interested in swimming on a winter team, this is a great way to get a taste of what some of the larger year-around swim meets are all about.
Please click here to enroll your child. Remember when you sign up, that the rules are different at this meet and the kids can swim up to FOUR individual events plus TWO relays - so six events total.
