2019 - Muirfield AT Timberwood - swim meet wrap-up
Marlins:
The weather conditions were certainly less than ideal, but we managed to convert the Timberwood facility into a ‘tent city’ and make the best of it! Thanks go out to all the parents that made the best of the tough conditions. Timberwood managed to combine a lot of events and I think the last race was completed just before 10 PM.A very special thanks go out to all the parent volunteers that stepped up to cover for those that were late scratches – without you the meet couldn’t have happened!
The conditions weren’t ideal for the swimmers, but nevertheless we had a lot of swimmers step up and over 26% of the races resulted in a swimmer’s personal best. That number gets harder and harder to achieve as the season progresses – so congratulations to all the kids for doing so well.

Week in, week out I really struggle with how to highlight some performances. We had 47 swimmers that improved at least one time, but the swimmers below improved at least two personal best times. Again, a very impressive feat considering that mother nature did everything she could to hold the swimmers back.Congratulations to everybody that worked so hard to improve.

I keep waiting for the week where no Marlin swimmer breaks a swim team ‘all time’ record. Eventually that week will happen, but I’m very happy to say that it wasn’t last night! A very special congratulations go out to all our latest Marlin Record holders! Also note that I maintain the team records and publish them all HERE if your swimmer is chasing a record.

So many Marlins scratched late that the coaches were struggling to backfill/replace missing swimmers and volunteers all over the swim meet. PLEASE provide as much notice as possible if your kids must scratch from the meet. If you think there is a chance that they won’t be able to swim early enough, also please request NO RELAYS when you sign up for the meet. That will keep the swimmer side of the disruption to a minimum. Also, PLEASE check your own swimmers results and see if you found any errors/discrepancies (this is viewable via the SwimTopia app). The computer table workers were making so many changes so quickly, it is very possible. Please notify me and I can correct the results. The Bogey Hills swim meet signup for Monday July 22 are OPEN, so please sign up HERE if you haven’t already.
