Job Sign Ups and Meet Declarations Open SOON

    Hello Marlins,

The moment you have all been waiting for, job sign ups!

On Tuesday, May 21 at 9:00am, job sign ups will open on Swimtopia.  Each family is required to work 5 shifts this season.  In general, a shift is half of the meet in one job capacity.  Set up /tear down also count as shifts.  As a reminder, any family who does not work their 5 shifts will forfeit the $300 worker deposit, and become ineligible to swim for the Marlins in the future.

Please note that our meets will start at 5:00 this year, instead of 6:00.  This means that set up will begin at 3:30.

Once you sign up for a meet, please understand that we will shift you to another job if necessary.  As we discussed in the parent meeting, we will move more experiences families into bullpen jobs and let newer people be runners and timers.  If you have been on the team more than 3 years, you are expected to take a stroke judge or bullpen shift.

All meets will also open for entry on Tuesday, May 21 at 9:00am.  Typically, we open each meet the week prior, but this year they will all open at once.  What does that mean?  You can go ahead and declare your kids for every meet, and check that off your list of things to do!  A few notes about this change:

    • Parents will no longer choose events for swimmers.  You will simply declare "attending" or "not attending".
    • Parents will no longer say "yes" to swimmers participating in relays.  All swimmers will swim relays.
    • There will be a "notes" section, and you may request one event that your child would like to swim.  No request for events your swimmer does not want to swim will be honored.

Our coaches are with the swimmers every day at practice, and they will never put a swimmer in an event that he/she cannot swim.  However, please understand that your swimmers will have to swim a variety of events throughout the season.

Thank you, and we look forward to seeing you at the pool!
